Another Trans Woman Murdered and Mutilated in Brazil - DIANE ANDERSON-MINSHALL - http://www.advocate.com

*more here*

ezs note:  This is... appalling.  One person is slain every 36 hours.  Please, if you live in Brazil, or if you go there for vacation or business, and you saw what happened, report it to the police IMMEDIATELY!

Also, tell your representative in Congress this record is beyond reprehensible.  Personally, I think the Olympic Games should not be held there until the police do a MUCH better job.

I hope you agree.

VOTE!

Credit: onehorseshy.spreadshirt.com

Yesterday, I mentioned that early voting would take place as soon as
October first.  I then went home and turned on "The Rachael Maddow Show". It turns out I was wrong.

In some states, voting has already started!

Please, if you are in one of these states - especially if you are planning on being out of town November sixth - please vote immediately.

C'mon, it's my birthday - make me happy!

e-mail your representative!

Let them that you are here, and that you insist on FULL rights for LGBT folks.  It only takes about five minutes, and you'll feel great!

Connecticut - Chris Murphy over Linda McMahon

In the US Senate race, Chris Murphy bests Linda McMahon, and by a wide margin.  Currently, Murphy is the representative for the US House of Representatives, 5th Connecticut district.  Prior to that, he served on the Southington Town Council and the state House of Representatives.  He also headed campaigns for another candidate, Charlotte Koskoff.  (disclaimer: I volunteered for Charlotte Koskoff's campaign.)

Linda McMahon headed World Wrestling Entertainment.

I think you get my point.

90 days, 90 reasons - http://90days90reasons.com/

*more here*

As you might have noticed, I have officially put my endorsement in for Barack Obama.  The reasons are many, but they can best be summarized in '90 days, 90 reasons'.  Now, I understand that many of you are just bone weary of politics, but it is  important!  If for no other reason than the first, it means that the President will be batting for us.  If you are unsure of registering to vote, or this is your first time (whether 18 or 88) there are good ideas on how to do it.

BUT JUST DO IT!

Voting - how to do it

Now that Labor Day is over, election day is coming.  Now, you're thinking that it's a little less than two months away, so you have some time to spare.  However, you have less than you think.  Here are a few reminders:

1.  If you have even the slightest doubt as to your registration, call your town or city hall today!!  If you are unregistered, either fill out a card (as we do in Connecticut) or go to the city or town hall and  register there.

2. Are you moving?  If so, contact the town or city hall and tell them will be moving.  Please tell them the exact house or apartment you will moving to.  If this is a very large city (New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia), this is doubly important.

3.  If you are moving out of state, familiarize yourself with the rules of the state in which you are living.

Hope this helps.
