90 days, 90 reasons - http://90days90reasons.com/

*more here*

As you might have noticed, I have officially put my endorsement in for Barack Obama.  The reasons are many, but they can best be summarized in '90 days, 90 reasons'.  Now, I understand that many of you are just bone weary of politics, but it is  important!  If for no other reason than the first, it means that the President will be batting for us.  If you are unsure of registering to vote, or this is your first time (whether 18 or 88) there are good ideas on how to do it.

BUT JUST DO IT!

Voting - how to do it

Now that Labor Day is over, election day is coming.  Now, you're thinking that it's a little less than two months away, so you have some time to spare.  However, you have less than you think.  Here are a few reminders:

1.  If you have even the slightest doubt as to your registration, call your town or city hall today!!  If you are unregistered, either fill out a card (as we do in Connecticut) or go to the city or town hall and  register there.

2. Are you moving?  If so, contact the town or city hall and tell them will be moving.  Please tell them the exact house or apartment you will moving to.  If this is a very large city (New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia), this is doubly important.

3.  If you are moving out of state, familiarize yourself with the rules of the state in which you are living.

Hope this helps.

spanning the world... well, Charlotte, North Carolina, anyway

Now that we leave Tampa, Florida, we move on to Charlotte, North Carolina.  All you Democrats are probably breathing a sigh of relief.  We can, after all, know that are much more LGBT-friendly Democrats, all of those gathering in Charlotte.  We can relax, right?

WRONG.

Although there are more friendly Democrats, they are not universal.  Check your representative out.  If s/he is lackadaisical (or worse yet, opposed) let her/him you want strong batters, not pre-little-leaguers. WE WANT FULL RIGHTS FOR OURSELVES AND OUR LGBT FRIENDS.  Period.

note: the cities/towns listed here are previous ones.  To get your location go to www.house.gov and enter your ZIP code. If you are still unsure, call the nearest city/town hall and give your exact address
(for example, not just 'Fern Road' but rather '43 Fern Road') and s/he should be able to give your correct representative.

What not to bother with... and what DEFINITELY to bother with...

Don't bother whether you are transgender, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or a straight friend.

Don't bother whether you are African-American, white, Asian, or any other color.

Don't bother whether you are able or disabled.

Don't bother whether you are 18 or 108.

BUT...

DO bother with e-writing your representative.

DO bother with finding out your voting status.

DO bother with setting things right if there is any question regarding your voting rights.

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

Bug 'em... again!

This week, the Republican National Convention is being held.  Now, you may feel that contacting the RNC is akin to spitting in the wind... but it's not.  This week especially, keep the pressure on them to make Republican representatives keep their word about maintaining full status for LGBT persons.  Otherwise, they'll suffer a quick two-term.
